Re-Elect Hazel Watson – County Council Elections – 6 May 2021

County Council elections will be held on 6 May and Hazel Watson has been selected again as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Dorking Hills.

Over the last four years, working with local residents, we have successfully:

• kept the Dorking and Cranleigh Tips open;

• ensured that the proposal for oil drilling at Coldharbour was withdrawn;

• saved the Performing Arts Library; and

• made the County Council withdraw the car parking charges at Norbury Park and Newlands Corner.

We have also introduced appropriately lower speed limits in Walliswood and Abinger Common, on some rural lanes, and on the A25 at Wotton, introduced 30mph roundels on Boxhill Road, improved the footpaths across Meadowbank and resurfaced and improved pavements along Ashcombe Road and near Paddington Farm in Abinger Hammer, and introduced Real Time Passenger Information at bus stops at Dorking Station and Westcott, as well as completing many local projects.

We are also delighted to have provided small capital grants to many organisations, including Village Halls and Sports Clubs, across the Dorking Hills from the Local Funding Allocation.

But more needs to be done, including:

• tackling antisocial behaviour with the easing of Lockdown, ensuring litter is cleared promptly, dangerous parking is prevented, and action taken against vehicles with noisy exhausts;

• improving road safety, including a controlled pedestrian crossing at Chalkpit Lane; and

• protecting the Green Belt from inappropriate development.

We appreciate the support that everyone has given us in previous elections and we hope that you will be able to support us again this time.
